Description
Fern frost on the window forms in winter when a glass pane is exposed to very cold air on the outside and warmer, moderately moist air on the inside. If the pane is not a good insulator -- as is the case with this single pane in our summer home in Sister Bay, Door County, Wisconsin -- water vapor condenses on the glass forming these beautiful frost patterns. Another example of the beauty of God's creation.
