Description
In 1869 this seven-room keeper's dwelling was built which contained the rear range light, with the front range light 900 ft toward Lake Michigan.. Located in Baileys Harbor, Door County, Wisconsin, the dwelling is a 36' x 24', one and one-half story structure with a porch in front and a rear shed-roofed room for a kitchen. The rear range light's rectangular tower projects from the roof at the front of the gable end of the house. On the south side is a large window behind which a 5th order lens was placed. In 2019 the range lights celebrated their 150th anniversary. The image is rendered here in black and white.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
