Description
Fakahatchee Beaked Orchids (Sacoila lanceolata paludicola) have a vibrant red flower which stands out here against a blurred green background, its delicate petals forming an elongated cluster along the stem. The surrounding foliage in this image is lush, with serrated leaves that suggest a verdant, humid environment. Commonly referred to as leafless beaked orchid it is a species of flowering plant that grows in Southwest Florida, the West Indies, Mexico, Central America, and South America. This was captured at the Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary near Naples, Florida.
