Description

As the sun set on a cloudy day it broke through on the horizon to color the sky and reflect on the water rolling up onto the beach at South Haven, Michigan. The South Pierhead Light juts out into Lake Michigan at the entrance to the Black River. The station was lit in 1872, and is still operational.
